Kirkland, Sean / 40
October, 2023
My name is Sean Kirkland, and I'm from South Mississippi. I'm 40 years old but spent 25 years in addiction. I had a normal childhood. I was raised and a good Christian home. I wasn't a victim of abuse, or mistreated in any way. I was Involved in my local church, and I was a Christian athlete. In my teen years, I focused on competitive baseball and the possibility of a scholarship was promising, but between the ages fifteen and sixteen, my life changed drastically...

I spent 26 years in active addiction. I was a heroin user for so long and my life was such a mess, but when you are in so deep - like I was - you feel like your life has no meaning at all. After I went through drug and alcohol treatment, it took a long time for me to see or understand what my purpose in life was. By the 2nd or 3rd month of being there, and after I detoxed, the clarity started to come back. I had someone come to me and say "Have you ever thought about giving yourself to the Lord?"...
Quin / N/A
November, 2023
My name is Quin. I had seizures in the womb. I was diagnosed with epilepsy, Ehlers-Danlos, and an intellectual disability. I started watching pornography at 12, and I witnessed my mom get beaten. That experience resulted in violent thoughts, raging, fighting, coldness, stealing, vandalism, drugs, and gang-related activities. Although I got saved at a Christian school, by the age of 15, I was attracted to men and women, and I actually stopped feeling like a guy. Although I was ashamed of my feelings, God revealed that I was made in His image. I ignored God’s love and abused alcohol and cocaine, but God kept me safe...

I’d say my food addiction began out of scarcity and then scarcity quickly gave birth to greed and gluttony. In my youth I was always fit and athletic, but then I went to a boarding academy to work as a task force dean making $600 a month with a $460 truck payment, that scarcity mindset began to kick in. I began eating extremely unhealthfully in the cafeteria, almost like I was hoarding food away for the winter. And I started to gain weight in an unhealthy way for the first time in my life. Then I met a wealthy student who had a credit card from his dad with no limit! I noticed he was often ordering delivery from a Teriyaki place down the road and I asked him if he would include me on this daily order. That’s when the greed and gluttony began to set in...
Fanning, Jillian / 40
October, 2023
My name is Jillian Fanning, and I am 40 years old. I grew up in a broken home. I had a mother that did the best she could and was with my father growing up. He had his demons with addiction for most of my childhood. He became physically and mentally abusive around the age of 9 due to the addiction growing within him and finding out that his father (my grandfather) sexually abused his 3 daughters: my 2 older sisters and myself. For me, it had happened from the ages of 7 to 9 years old. My sisters were not so lucky...

November, 2023
"The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want" certainly pertains to the miracle God has done in my life after childhood; my teen years were filled with sexual, emotional, and physical abuse. I found myself doing every drug possible to numb the memories and the pain in a codependent relationship with my husband of 35 years. I shot methamphetamine daily, sometimes several times a day; I was merely surviving...

Here's a testimony I want to share for today. I went for a drive earlier when I had some things to do in town. Anyway, on the way back home, I took a different route. On my travels, I saw a gentleman walking down the road with a backpack on. So I went to the next road up to turn around to offer him a ride. After I got turned around and came up to the intersection, he was on the other side of the road, and he climbed into a vehicle...
1 Peter 3:15
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
